Whether you want to create a short film, an instructional video, a highlight reel, or a music video, you’ll need a way to combine several clips together. Unfortunately, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, and all popular video platforms don’t provide any way to do this. You may think that you need to download a video editing app that takes up a lot of storage, or use a complex, high-powered editing software just to make small, simple edits like this.

But you have a better option! In this article, I’m going to show you how easy it is to combine your video clips using a free online tool called Kapwing. With Kapwing, you can enjoy the functionality of a high-powered video editing software without downloading any big apps. And Kapwing works on computers, phones, and tablets, so you can create and edit all your videos on the go! To combine several video clips, you’ll need just four simple steps:

  1. Find the Videos You Want to Put Together
  2. Upload Your Videos to Kapwing
  3. Arrange & Edit Your Videos
  4. Publish & Download!

Step 1: Find the Videos You Want to Put Together

First, you’ll need to know where you can access your videos. If you recorded the videos yourself, or have them downloaded on your device, make sure you can find them in your file browser. Depending on how you got the videos, they could be located on your desktop, your downloads, your photos app, or even your documents. Check to make sure you know how to access your content.

And if you want to combine videos you found online, just copy their links! You can use videos from Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter, and pretty much any major video sharing platform on the internet. Just right-click on a video while it’s playing and select “Copy Link" to import them into Kapwing.

Step 2: Upload Your Videos to Kapwing

Uploading your videos to Kapwing is just as easy! First, go to Kapwing.com and click “Get Started.” This will take you to the Kapwing Studio, where you can use all of Kapwing’s photo and video editing tools in one convenient place.

To upload a video from your computer, phone, or tablet, you can select the button that says “Click to upload” and find the file you want to edit in your file browser. You can also find the video in your file browser and drag & drop it into the Studio window.

And if you want to upload a video you found online, click on the input box that says “Paste an image or video URL.” Now, right click (or just tap once more on a phone or tablet) on the field and select “Paste.” Kapwing will work its magic and import your video to the Studio.

After uploading, both videos will appear in the timeline below the canvas.

Step 3: Arrange & Edit Your Videos

Now that all your videos are uploaded to the Studio, you can begin to edit your final project. Drag the video that you want to appear second after the first video in the timeline. Once you've moved both videos onto the same track, the videos will play one after the other.

Watch the video preview to see what the output video will look like with the two videos put together.

To trim your clips, grab the slider on the left and right of the timeline and drag it to the time you want. Move the beginning and end of your clip to make it the perfect length.

Alternatively, you can use the "Split" button to demarcate where you want the video to start and end, then delete the spliced clips that you don't want to include.

To add audio, text, animations, filters, speed adjustments, and more, spend some time exploring the Studio. The Kapwing Resources library or YouTube channel is a great place to look if you want to learn more about all the tools the Studio has to offer.

Step 4: Export & Download

Once your clips have been combined and edited to perfection, just click “Export” in the upper right-hand corner. Kapwing will immediately start processing your combined video. Once your video is done processing, you’ll go to a page where you can download or continue to edit. Click “Download” and Kapwing will save the video to your device.
