How to Add a Border to a Picture
- Step 1Upload image
Create a new project in the Kapwing studio, then click to upload your image. Make sure the canvas is larger than your image.
- Step 2Add border
With your image selected, scroll to "Borders" in the right toolbar. Drag the "stroke" slider to add a border.
- Step 3Adjust
Drag the slider to adjust border size and corners. Select a border color and adjust drop shadow.

How to add image borders
To add an image border on Kapwing, create a new project in the studio and upload your image. Make sure your canvas is larger than the image. You can drag to expand the canvas, choose a preset size, drag to make your image smaller, or click "Expand Padding" in the righthand toolbar to add white space around your image.
Select the image in the canvas, then scroll to "Borders" in the righthand toolbar. Drag the "Stroke" slider to add a border, and fine-tune the size by typing in a percentage value. When your border is the right size, you can add rounded corners to the image and border by dragging the "Corner" slider. Select your border color from the color palette just below the slider. Add and customize a drop shadow using the sliders and color options.
When you're ready to download your edited image, click "Export Project" in the upper right, then choose your file type and resolution in the "Image" tab. Click the "Export as" button to export and save your image.
What image file types are supported?
Kapwing supports all popular image file types, including JPEG, PNG, and WebP. You can download your bordered image in any of these file types by clicking "Export Project."
Are the borders adjustable?
