Welcome to our FAQ!
We are still building our product to be the best it can be and learning exactly what our customers need and want from us. We get questions every day that help us grow and be better. But for the some of the most frequently asked questions, here are some answers. We will update this page.
Can I make an account without a Google or Facebook account?
No, not right now. Currently, Kapwing doesn’t have an independent account system, so we rely on Google or Facebook authentication. If you don’t have either, you can create a Google Account for free and use it to sign into Kapwing. We do hope to support non-Google or Facebook accounts in the future!
How much does it cost to use Kapwing?
It’s free to use Kapwing! All our tools are available for free and paid users. We have a PRO Workspace upgrade available for users who want additional features, or want to support our website's growth and maintenance. Learn more about pricing.
What is a workspace?
A workspace is a storage drive where are all the projects you create are stored. You can have multiple workspaces, which are free by default. However, free workspaces have limitations which can be found on our Pricing page.
What is a PRO workspace?
When you upgrade a workspace, the projects created in that PRO workspace will be stored for an unlimited amount of time and can be set to private. Additionally, you will have the option to download SRT files in our Add Subtitles tool. Learn more about pricing. To have access to Kapwing Pro features, you must create content in your Pro workspace. If you want to use more than one workspace with Pro features, you would have to upgrade your additional workspace(s).

How do I cancel my subscription?
We are sorry to see you go! You can cancel your subscription by going to your Pro Workspace > Settings and click "Downgrade Workspace". If you have any feedback regarding why you are cancelling, please share it with us at [email protected].
My video is “Public”. What does that mean?
Public is the default setting for content created on Kapwing. This means the content is published on Kapwing and is accessible to anyone who has the link or video ID. This enables users to create content without signing in, and enables sharing content
Currently Public content on Kapwing is not easily searchable. Others may only view your content if they have the link or access to the video ID. This is similar to YouTube’s “Unlisted” feature.
If you do not want your content to be public, there are two things you can do:
- Delete your content from Kapwing.
- You can delete your content at any time by going to Workspaces and clicking ⋮ under your video.
- If you do not have an account on Kapwing, please send a request to [email protected] and include the link.
2. Upgrade to Kapwing Pro and set your content to Private. This will make your content visible to only you when you are signed in.
How do I delete my Kapwing account?
You can delete you account by going to My Account and clicking the "Delete Account" button.
Can I add text in foreign languages?
Yes! All Kapwing features support the Latin alphabet as well as Chinese, Japanese, and Korean alphabets.
However, only some of our features support other international character sets. The Kapwing Subtitle Maker supports over 150 international character sets! We are working on supporting more alphabets, so send us an email if your language is not supported [email protected].
Do you have an app for Android or iPhone?
We do have an iOS app that helps iPhone users download projects from their Workspace. We do not have an Android app (yet!). All of our tools work on mobile web.
Does Kapwing work offline?
No. Right now, you need an internet connection to use Kapwing You can use Kapwing online from any browser.
Can I import from another site like Google Drive or YouTube?
Yes, you can! You can paste the URL of a video, GIF, or image to import it into Kapwing. Linked videos must be public. Make sure you have opened link sharing permissions so that Kapwing can import your file
We do not yet support imports from all websites. Have a website you want to import from that Kapwing doesn’t support? Let us know at [email protected].
My file upload is not working. What’s wrong?
If you get an error message, it’s possible that your video does not meet our upload requirements.
- Check your internet connection. Spotty internet can make Kapwing not perform well.
- Check the file extension. Kapwing supports most major file types, like .AVI, .FLV, .3GP, and other edge file type. However, it doesn't support all file types. It may be that your file extension is unsupported. If so, you can use other software to convert to .MP4 or upload to YouTube if you want to use your file on our website.
- You can use our Convert tool to change a supported video file type (such as .MOV or .M4V) into an .MP4 file.
- Check the file size. Kapwing supports files smaller than 500 MB for free users or 1GB for Kapwing Pro projects. See our pricing page for exact limits.
If your video meets our upload requirements and you have a connection, contact customer support at [email protected].
How do I download my video?
Click "Create" or "Publish." Our tools have a Create or Publish button that will load your video and take you to a download page. If you see an error message on that page, Kapwing ran into a problem when trying to process your video. If you leave a note in our feedback form, we can investigate what went wrong to recover your video.
If you’re on a PC, Mac computer, or Android phone, you can click the download button to download the video on your device. If that doesn’t work, right click on the video (or “long press” on a phone) to save the video.
If you have an iPhone, you’ll need to download the Kapwing iOS app. This sucks — we know — but Apple doesn’t let us download it directly to your camera roll. We wrote a step by step tutorial on downloading on iOS.
