Is the Overlay Image tool free?

Yes, Kapwing's image overlay tool is free for all users.

Is there a watermark on exports?

If you use Kapwing on a Free account, then all exports — including Overlay Image — contain a watermark. Once you upgrade to a Pro account, the watermark is completely removed from your creations.

How to overlay images with Kapwing

To overlay two images with Kapwing, create a new project, then click to upload your photos. Drag to adjust size and position of each photo. Right click, then select "Send forward" or "Send backward" to change which image displays on top. Add borders or adjust opacity with sliders in the righthand toolbar.

How to overlay photos on iPhone or Android

If you want to overlay images on iPhone or Android devices, open the Kapwing studio in your mobile browser. Click to upload your photos, then drag to adjust size and position. Change which image overlays on top of the other, add borders, round corners, and adjust lighting and saturation using the bottom toolbar. Then click "Export Project" to download your image overlays as JPEG, PNG, or WebP.

What image file formats does Kapwing support?

Kapwing supports all major image file types, including JPEG, PNG, and WebP. You can upload images in any of these file formats, then download your finished project at your preferred compression and resolution levels.

Can I overlay stock photos?

Yes, you can overlay images from Kapwing's extensive library of royalty-free stock photos. In the lefthand sidebar, click "Visuals," then select "Images" to browse the library. When you find the right picture, click to add it to your canvas.

Can I edit the image overlays after I add them?

Yes, you can adjust the color, saturation, aspect ratio, and position of your image overlays. If you want a transparent image overlay, select the image and adjust its opacity using the sliders in the righthand toolbar. You can also add colored borders to any image overlay.

Can I overlay images for social media?

Yes, Kapwing is built for social media creators and supports common aspect ratios for Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, and more. Overlay logos, text, or graphics on your images and export them ready to post across platforms.
