So you have a video saved as a FLV file, or Flash Video, but your media player won't open it? Here's the bad news: the FLV format just isn't supported by some apps and devices.

The good news? You can convert your FLV to a MP3 and easily access the audio you want! And sure, there's file converters to do this, but none offer the ability to convert and trim your audio like Kapwing's 'Convert Video' tool. Convert your FLV to MP3 and trim it up for free using these steps:

  1. Upload to the 'Convert Video' tool
  2. Convert and trim audio
  3. Create and download

1. Upload to the ‘Convert Video’ tool

First, go to Kapwing.com in your browser, open the Tools menu, and select the Convert Video tool.

Next, you need to drag and drop your FLV file onto the ‘Upload’ button. I found that clicking the button to search my files did not display the .flv extension, so follow the directions unless you discover otherwise.

2. Convert and trim audio

Give Kapwing a few seconds to upload your FLV video. Once the video is fully uploaded to the Studio, choose MP3 from the conv on the right side under the ‘Convert Video’ section.

3. Create and download

Once you’re satisfied with the project, click the red Export button in the upper right corner and give Kapwing some time to process your MP3.

When it's done processing, click the Download button on the right side of the screen to save the MP3 file straight to your device. If you're not signed into a Kapwing account, sign in or sign up using your Google or Facebook account – once you've signed into a Kapwing account, the watermark in the lower right corner will be removed from your final image.
