As an avid movie and tv lover, I am constantly searching for my next binge-worthy watch. One of the best ways to discover them is through a 'top 10' video. These can range from ANY type category. And when I mean any, I really mean any. There is no limit to how deep you can go when looking for and creating a top 10 video.
I've seen anything from 'Top 10 Marvel films" to "Top 10 Romantic Comedies" and so on. This also reaches far beyond movies of course. "Top 10 snacks at Trader Joes","Top 10 TickTock Trends"; get the gist?
Now, if you’re someone like me who likes to create their own content, then I am going to show you how to create your very own Top 10 Video for Youtube!
*Short disclaimer before we get started - To do this without getting in the muddy water of copyright issues, (a 'top 10 movie' list for example) I am going to choose a subject that won't get you involved in any of that. If you are interested in a subject that has copyright parameters, take a look at some of the Kapwing's Resources I pasted below. They go a bit more in-depth on how to go about that.
Here is what you will need to create your top 10 video:
- A subject you are passionate about
- Save and post
Step 1. A subject you are passionate about
This might be the most important part of creating your top 10 video. Like I said before, if you are looking to do a top 10 video that has copyright parameters, please see the resources above. Since we are in the middle of quarantine, it's sparked a whole bunch of new and exciting things that people have become invested in. For example, baking has always been a passion of mine, but since quarantine started, I've had the opportunity to increase it even more. So for me, I am going to create a 'Top 10 Baking in Quarantine' video.
Step 2. Using Kapwing.com
When you have your topic picked out, it's time to get that content into Kapwing! Head to your workspace and go to the 'Collections'. From there, choose the Animated Text Video Maker and then the 'Top X Animated Text Video" template.
When you're on the template, you can press 'play' on the bottom to watch the sample prompt. This can help you understand how the animated text flows in and out on top of the videos.
Step 3. Edit
Now comes the fun part! EDITING. For a quick and easy way to get a quality video made, keep the pre-created settings on the template and just replace the photos/videos in the template.. You can do this by following the steps below.
'Select the slide' you want to change.
Click on 'Upload' and choose the new photo or video you want for that slide.
Position the new photo or video on the slide so it covers the amount of screen you desire. Then, on the right you will find a menu. Under 'Layers' select 'Send Behind'. You might have to click on this two or three times to make sure it's behind the writing and animation.
Click anywhere so the regular slide menu appears on the right. Your uploaded item should be listed at the very bottom under 'Layers'. Select the image or video that is above it (or whichever the stock footage is) and delete.
Editing the text on these slides is quite simple as well. You can either click on the text 'layer' on the right hand side (see picture above) or move the play progress bar to where the text appears and click it on the slide to edit there.
When you've changed your photos and edited the text, we can move on to some fun parts! A great thing to add to your video would be an awesome Video Intro, or creating your own Progress Bar on the side of the video. Adding some music and additional text effects are also a great way to spruce up the video.
After you're finished editing, click on the 'Publish' button at the top. Watch as your beautiful video renders and blossoms into an awesome, professional YouTube video.
Step 4. Publish
Now it's time to post on YouTube! You can do it directly from the finished rendered video, or you can download it to your computer for a later time.
