If you are wanting to really make your Google Slides presentation pop, then one way to do it is to add music to your slides. You can add specific music tracks to individual slides that will play as soon as you trigger them, granted that you know how to add them.

I recommend using Kapwing to add your own music to Google Slides, and I'll guide you through each step to get there:

  1. Upload Music Track to Kapwing Studio
  2. Edit and Export Music Track
  3. Add Music to Google Slides

Step 1: Upload Music Track to Kapwing Studio

In order to add music to Google Slides, you will need to host the track on another platform, as Google Slides does not allow you to host it directly on the site. This is where Kapwing comes in, so your first step will be to head to the Kapwing Studio.

Here, you will see the three options for uploading your music track into Kapwing: Get Started, Upload a File, and Paste a URL. Each one is self-explanatory, and we assume that you have the music track you are wanting to use already on your computer, so go ahead and click on Upload a File.

Just find your music track on your hard drive and send it into the Studio.

Step 2: Edit and Export Music Track

You will now be in the Kapwing editing studio and see all the different tools you have at your disposal for editing your music track:

  • Change the speed of the music
  • Adjust the volume of the track
  • Add different effects to the music track

There’s more to do than just these three tools that you can use as well, and it’s up to you on how you want to use them to change things up. Mess around with it and get the music track to be just how you want it.

You can export the music track as an MP3.

When you're done, click the arrow next to the Export button and select Export as MP3. This will send it to Kapwing’s cloud services to process and export the music. Once it’s done, you will be taken to a new screen where you can use the Download button to save the song straight to your files as an MP3.

Step 3: Add Music to Google Slides

In order to add the audio to your slides, you need to upload the file to your Google Drive.

Upload your audio file to your Google Drive.

Go to your Google Drive and look in the top-left area of your screen to find the New button. Click on this, and then select File Upload. Then find your audio file on your computer and select it for uploading.

Once it has finished uploading to your Drive, head over to your Google Slides presentation. Go to the slide that you want the audio on, and look in the toolbar above the slides.

You can add an audio file straight from your Drive.

In this toolbar, click on Insert, then Audio. This will bring up a new window where you can choose any audio files in your Google Drive.

Find your recently added music file and click Select. You will see an audio icon now appear on your slide, which you can move around and place wherever you want it. You can also adjust its playback volume, hide the audio icon when presenting, make it repeat automatically, and choose whether you want playback to begin automatically or when you click the icon.
