Apple is constantly updating iPhone cameras and recording capacity, but their video-editing functions lag behind their other capabilities. So if you want to make any higher-level edits, like speeding up a video, you might think that you need to download a large video editing app, or pay money for a high-powered editing software.

In this article, I'm going to show you a better way to edit using Kapwing. I recommend using Kapwing to edit mobile videos for a bunch of reasons:

• It’s free to use
• It’s easy to learn
• It doesn’t make you download any apps
• It works well on phones, computers, and tablets
• You can upload photos, music, and videos from any source
• It makes video collaboration easy

To speed up the videos you've recorded on your iPhone, you'll need to know just 3 simple steps:

  1. Upload your video to Kapwing
  2. Speed up your video
  3. Publish & download!

Step 1: Upload Your Video to Kapwing

Uploading your content to Kapwing takes just a few seconds. Go to Kapwing.com in your browser and click "Get Started." Or, if you're already logged in, choose "New Project" and "Start with Studio."

Now you're in the Kapwing Studio, where you can use all of Kapwing's editing tools in one place. To upload a video that you recorded on your phone, just click the button that says "Click to Upload." This will let you browse through your camera roll or files to find the video that you want to speed up. Once you select your video, it could take a while to upload to the Studio, depending on the file size.

If you're planning to speed up a video that you found online, or one of your own videos in an online storage site, copy a shareable link to the video and paste it in the Studio's URL field. Most web locations allow you tap twice on the URL and select "Copy." In apps like YouTube, you can find the Share button and choose "Copy Link." In some online storage locations like Google Drive, you'll need to make sure your video's link is shareable by adjusting your sharing settings.

Step 2: Speed Up Your Video

Now that you're in the Kapwing Studio, it only takes a couple clicks to speed up your video! Select the video layer and tap "Edit Layer" from below the video. To speed up the video, tap the "+" button under "Speed." You can change the speed of your video to 1.15x, 1.25x, 1.5x, 1.75x, 2x, and time-lapse style 4x! Scroll down and tap "Done" when you're finished.

While you’re in the Kapwing Studio, you can make any other edits that your video needs:

• Add other videos
Add & edit text
• Add pictures, GIFs, overlays, & audio
• Add shapes
• Add text animations
Crop, resize, rotate, & filter

Step 3: Publish & Download

Once your video has been sped up and edited to perfection, you're ready to publish it! Just tap the red "Publish" button in the upper right-hand corner of the Studio window. Kapwing will automatically start processing your video, which could take up to a few minutes for larger video files.

The Kapwing mobile app makes it easy to download your content

Once your video is finished processing, you'll need to copy the URL of the download page. Once your link is copied, open the Kapwing mobile app. It's very small, will install in only a few seconds, and doesn’t require any login – it’s only meant to help you download your content! Just open the app and paste the link of the download page into the URL field. Now your video is ready for you to share anywhere!
