You probably want your computer's wallpaper the be one of your very best pictures – landscapes, sunsets, digital paintings. But if you take these pictures on your phone, or even on a high-quality digital camera, it can be difficult to format your wallpaper to look just the way you want. Especially if you want to edit your wallpaper with filters, adjustments, text, or signatures, your photo editor might not let you export with the correct dimensions for a high-resolution wallpaper – 1920x1080.

In this article, I'm going to show you how to create a high-quality 1092x1080p wallpaper using a free online tool called Kapwing. I recommend using Kapwing for a bunch of reasons:

• It’s free to use
• It’s easy to learn
• It doesn’t make you download any apps
• It works well on computers, phones, and tablets
• You can upload photos, music, and videos from any source

To make a 1920x1080p wallpaper using Kapwing, you'll need to know just 4 simple steps:

  1. Find your wallpaper photo
  2. Upload it to the Kapwing Studio
  3. Resize & Edit
  4. Publish & Download!

Step 1: Find Your Wallpaper Photo

Kapwing allows you to upload any type of image file from any source. You can use a photo you found or stored online from locations like Facebook, Instagram, Google Images, or Google Drive. You can even take a video screenshot from YouTube with Kapwing's Image to Video tool. Or, you can make your wallpaper from a photo you've taken yourself or have saved on your device!

Just copy the link and your photo is ready to upload to the Studio!

If your picture is stored on your computer or phone, just make sure you can find it in your file browser. It might be a good idea to make a separate folder of wallpaper photos, if you have several. And if you're using a photo from somewhere on the internet, all you need to do is copy the URL (if you're using a photo stored in Google Drive, you'll need to make sure the link is shareable).

Step 2: Upload It to the Kapwing Studio

When you're ready to create your wallpaper, head to Kapwing.com and click "Get Started." If you're already signed in, click "New Project" and "Start with Studio." This will take you to the Studio, where you can use all of Kapwing's editing tools in one place.

The Custom Resizer is one of dozens of the tools in the Studio!

To upload your photo, either right-click on the URL field and select "Paste," or select "Click to Upload" and find the photo in your file browser! You can also drag & drop a file into the Studio window if it's accessible.

Step 3: Resize & Edit

Once you've uploaded your photo to the Studio, you can adjust its exact output dimensions. Click "Custom Size" from the toolbar on the right side of the Studio. In the Custom Resizer window, enter 1920 in the first field and 1080 in the second. Just click "Done" and your wallpaper will be resized perfectly!

Resize your photo to the precise dimensions you want!

While you’re in the Kapwing Studio, you can make any other edits that you need to make the perfect backdrop:

Add & edit text
• Add other pictures, GIFs, videos, overlays, & audio
• Add shapes
• Add text animations
Crop & filter

Step 4: Publish & Download

Once you've edited your picture to perfection and selected the optimal size and dimensions, click "Publish" in the upper right-hand corner. Kapwing will automatically work its magic and your wallpaper will be ready to download in no time!

When your picture is finished processing, click “Download” from the right side of the screen. From this page, you can also sign in with a Google or Facebook account to remove the Kapwing watermark for free! And if you'd like to show off your high-res wallpaper, you can use direct-share buttons for Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.

Your high-resolution wallpaper is just a click away!

If you’re using a mobile device, you’ll need to download the very small Kapwing mobile app from the App Store. The app doesn’t require any login – it’s only meant to help you download your content! To download your picture on your iPhone, just copy the URL of the download page and paste it into the URL field in the Kapwing app. Now it's ready for you to share anywhere!
