If you post a YouTube URL to Facebook, your friends can’t watch it while they scroll through their timelines. Instead, they have to leave Facebook, load YouTube, and watch the video in YouTube itself.
Instead, you need to re-post your video on Facebook. To share YouTube videos on Facebook, you’ll need to know just four simple steps:
- Copy the Video’s Link
- Upload the Video to the Kapwing Studio
- Publish & Download Your Video
- Share the Video on Facebook
Step 1: Copy the Video’s link
Finding your video on YouTube couldn't be easier – search for the video using YouTube or Google, or follow a link to the video you want to download. On YouTube you can find any video you want, from lyric videos to memes.
Once you’ve arrived at the video you want, just copy its URL! If you’re working on a computer, click on the website’s URL at the top of the page to highlight it, then right-click on the highlighted link and click “Copy.” If you’re using the YouTube app on a phone or tablet, tap the video, hit the “Share” button (it should look like a curved arrow), and then choose “Copy Link.”
Step 2: Upload the Video to Kapwing
Importing your video to Kapwing is just as easy! Head over to Kapwing.com and click “Get Started.” This will take you to the Kapwing Studio, where you can use all of Kapwing’s video editing tools in one place.
To upload your YouTube video, click on the field that says “Paste an image or video URL.” Now, right click (or just tap again if you're working on your phone or tablet) on the field and select “Paste.” Kapwing will work its magic and upload your video to the Studio, where you can make any edits you want! For tutorials on adding more scenes, text, filters, animations, audio, and more, check out the Kapwing Resources page.
Step 3: Publish and Save Your Video
Now that your video has been uploaded to the Kapwing Studio, and you’ve made all the edits you want, just click “Publish” in the upper right-hand corner! Kapwing will immediately start processing your video.
When Kapwing has finished processing your video, you’ll go to a page where you can download your video or continue to edit it. If you're ready to share the video on Facebook, just click Download and it will be saved to your files. If you're not signed into a Kapwing account, sign in or sign up using your Google or Facebook account – once you've signed into a Kapwing account, the watermark in the lower right corner will be removed from your final video.
Step 4: Share the Video on Facebook!
Now that you have your video stored on your computer, phone, or tablet, go to Facebook. On your Facebook homepage, you'll see the post field near the top that says "What's on your mind, [name]?" Just under this, you'll find an icon that says "Photo/Video." Click on this and find the video you've saved. Facebook will upload the video quickly, and your post will be ready to share.
