Flipping an image vertically or horizontally can be really effective: you might need to flip a picture that was taken in a mirror, a front-cam selfie, or a screenshot from a video chat. Or, you might be working on an artsy, psychedelic social media post. But unlike other simple edits, mirroring your photos isn't very easy to accomplish on many mobile or desktop apps, unless you want to spend a lot of money or take up a lot of memory space on your device.

But you have a better option! In this article, I'm going to show you how to mirror your pictures for free online. I recommend using Kapwing to mirror your images, for a bunch of reasons:

• It’s free to use
• It’s easy to learn
• It doesn’t make you download any apps
• It works well on computers, phones, and tablets
• You can upload photos, music, and videos from any source

To mirror your pictures using Kapwing, you'll need to know just 3 simple steps:

  1. Find your photo
  2. Upload your photo to Kapwing's Mirroring tool
  3. Publish & Download!

Step 1: Find Your Photo

Before you get started, you'll need to know where to find your picture. If you want to use a photo that's stored somewhere online like Facebook, Instagram, Google Images, or Google Drive, just copy the link to the the photo (if it's in Google Drive, make sure the link is shareable). You can even take a screenshot from a video from YouTube or another video sharing site with Kapwing's Image to Video tool.

Just copy a link and your photo is ready to upload!

And if you're using a picture that you have saved to your device, just make sure you know where it's located in your file browser. It can be a good idea to make a separate folder for the files you want to use, especially if you're planning to use several photos.

Step 2: Upload Your Photo to Kapwing's Mirroring Tool

Once you've copied your link or located your file, head over to Kapwing.com and click on "Products" from the top toolbar. Now, scroll down and select "Rotate Video."

Just one click to mirror & one click to create!

This will take you to the Mirroring and Rotation tool! If you copied the link to the photo you want to mirror, just right-click in the URL field and select "Paste." And if you are uploading a picture from your device, click "Upload" and find the picture in your file browser. After copying your link or uploading your photo, Kapwing will work its magic and import your image in seconds!

Once your photo has been imported, just click on the mirroring button (it's the third option on the left-hand side of the window). Now your photo is flipped!

Step 3: Publish & Download (+more)!

When your image has been mirrored and looks perfect, just click "Create" in the lower left-hand corner of the window, and Kapwing will begin processing your picture. In just a few seconds, you'll be ready to download your mirrored picture! From the download page, you can also share your picture directly to Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.

Additionally, you might want to use your mirrored photo to make a picture that looks like this:

Use mirrored photos for some great visual effects!

If you want to make an image like that, download your mirrored photo and click "Get Started" from Kapwing's homepage. Or, if you're already signed in, click "New Project" and then "Start with Studio." In the Studio, you can upload your mirrored photo, and then upload the original. Expand the canvas with the "Expand Padding" tools on the left side of the Studio, and click & drag your pictures to line up the way you want. Then you can add filters, text, animations, and shapes to make your photo perfect for a social media post!
