Reaction videos, software tutorials, and video presentations all have something in common – they all require multiple sources of audio and video recording.

The screen recording software that's built into your device most likely won't record any audio at the same time. But if you want to record audio from a browser tab or microphone at the same time, you can do so on any computer or tablet, all without downloading anything. Here's what you should know:

  1. Recording a browser tab with system audio
  2. Recording your screen with microphone audio

1. Recording a Browser Tab with System Audio

To record both your screen and system audio while using your web browser, I recommend using Kapwing, and online video recording and editing studio. Start by heading to Kapwing.com and click Start Editing to enter the Kapwing Studio.

In the Studio, select the Record button in the upper toolbar and select "Record Screen." Here, you'll see a toggle button labeled "Include Tab Audio." If you want, you can also record audio from a microphone or video from a camera at the same time.

Make sure the "Include Tab Audio" toggle is turned on and click Start Recording. You'll see a dropdown menu that lets you choose whether you want to record your whole screen, a specific window, or just one tab in your browser. To record with system audio, you need to choose the last option and select which tab you want to record. When you click Record, Kapwing will record your screen, as well as the system audio playing in that tab.

When you're done recording, you'll return to the Studio where your video and audio layers will be uploaded. Make any edits your recording needs and click the red Export Video button in the upper right corner. When your video is ready, click the Download button to save it to your computer. If you're not signed into a Kapwing account, sign in or sign up to remove the watermark in the lower right corner.

2. Recording Your Screen with Microphone Audio

Go to Kapwing.com, click Start Editing, and choose the Record tab in the upper toolbar. Here, choose the Record Screen option and make sure the "Include Microphone" toggle is activated. Click Start Recording and choose to record your entire screen, app window, or browser tab.

When you're done recording, your screen recording and microphone audio will be uploaded to the Kapwing Studio as separate layers. Make any edits your recording needs and click the red Export Video button in the upper right corner. When your video is ready, click the Download button to save it to your computer. If you're not signed into a Kapwing account, sign in or sign up to remove the watermark in the lower right corner.

Whether you're creating a reaction video, a software tutorial, or a voiceover, being able to record both your screen and an audio track at the same time is a big boost to the video recording process. You don't have to waste time recording several tracks, lining up their timing precisely, and transferring files from a recording software to an editing program.
