You can find all the online video editors on the web by searching on Google, but which program should you use? Some editors don't give you more than a few functions, some make you wait in long lines to process your content, and others don't tell you that you have to pay for your video until after you're done editing. Some may even compromise the security of your computer.

I recommend using Kapwing for all of your online video editing needs. Try out the Google Video Editor for free without a watermark.

Kapwing helps you edit any image or video straight off of Google. You don't need to download any software or apps and can use the editing software online, just like any other website. Upload the video to trim, crop, rotate, add text and images, subtitle, or combine clips together.

Kapwing is also compatible with Google multimedia formats:

  • Videos from YouTube and Google Video Search: just paste the URL to import.
  • GIFs from Google Image Search and Giphy
  • Files in Google Drive
  • Pictures, icons and photos found on Google Image Search, including PNGs with a transparent background.

Kapwing works on any device, from desktops & laptops to smartphones & Chromebooks. Android phones and tablets, including the Google Pixel phone, let you edit the photos and videos you take on the go.

How to Edit Videos With Kapwing

To get started, navigate to Kapwing.com. If you already know what edit you want to make, you can search in Google for more specific terms, like "add text Kapwing," or "trim video Kapwing." This way, you can be directed right to the video editing tool you want to use.

Once you get to Kapwing, just click "Start Editing." This will take you to the Kapwing Studio, where you can make all the edits you need in just one place. Here, you can select the "Click to upload" button to find a file from your device, or you can paste a link in the URL field to use a video you found on YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Google Videos, Instagram, and almost any location on the web.

Once you're in the Studio, you can make any edit you want. Click on your video once it's uploaded, and you can use any of the tools on the right-hand side and upper edge of the Studio screen. You can trim, crop, and resize your video using the options on the right, as well as adding padding around your video and changing the background color.

The editing options on the top of the screen give you more options: you can click "Text" to add text with custom font, color, & animations. Or choose "Audio" to import an audio track from a YouTube video, SoundCloud song, or the music folder on your computer. You can even click "Images" and do a Google Image search while you're in the Studio, for an extra-quick upload without even leaving the page. And on the left edge of the Studio, you can add additional scenes to your project and make a video montage.

Once you've finished editing your video just the way you want, click "Publish" in the upper right-hand corner of the Studio window. Kapwing will begin processing your video, and it should be ready to download in just a few seconds. Once the video is finished processing, click "Download" from the right side of the screen. Now your video is saved to your device, so you can share it on social media, store it online in Google Drive or Dropbox, and watch it anytime!
