3 Ways to Make an Instagram Story Collage on Your Phone

People use Instagram Stories for different things, but they're most often used to share content that users don't want to post on their actual page.

But what if you want to post multiple photos at once but don’t want to spam your followers? One simple solution: Collages. They’re perfect for anything – happy birthday pictures for a friend, a quarantine photoshoot, your dog doing absolutely nothing. The list goes on. Whatever you want to create, I'll show you 3 ways to make a collage on your Instagram story:

  1. The new Instagram Story Templates
  2. Kapwing’s Collage Maker
  3. Copy and pasting straight onto your story

Instagram Story Templates

Just recently, Instagram made this feature available on their platform. Simply go to your story and at the bottom of your screen scroll to “Layout.”From there, it will present you with an array of layouts that you can choose from. Once you’ve picked your desired template, simply click on the camera roll option in the bottom left corner or take a photo by pressing on the center, white button. Fill up each of the available boxes and then press the white check mark to move on. Now, the finishing touches. Add text, stickers, or filters to your collage until you’re satisfied with the end result. To upload — press the bottom left icon that says “Your Story.”

Kapwing's Collage Maker

If you want to make your collage a little more elaborate, head on over to Kapwing.com or log onto the Kapwing app and select “Tools.” Once you’re there, you’re going to click on the “Collage Maker” tool that will open up a little studio space for you. Select a pre-designed template or press on “Get Started” if you want a blank canvas to work with. From there, you are going to upload photos via the top left button labeled “Upload.” Now, let loose with your creative energy. Add text, shapes, music. When you are happy with what you have created, click on the big, red “Publish” button on the top right of the screen.

Copy and Pasting Straight to Your Story

This option is great if you like a minimalist appearance. You begin by selecting a photo from your camera roll to upload to your story and then position it where you would like. Then, go to your Photos app and copy whichever photo you would like to add to your story. Head back over to your Instagram story, tap the screen to add text, and hold onto your screen until the “Paste” option pops up. Your photo should appear on the screen thereafter. Do this with as many photos as you like and move them around on the screen until you are pleased with your end product. Add text, stickers, or filters as well! Once you are done, press the bottom left icon that says “Your Story.”
