Sometimes one photo isn’t enough to convey that emotion or communicate that idea. That’s when making a slideshow comes in handy. A slideshow puts all your photos together, adds transitions and creates a story your audience can’t resist.
The perfect slideshow maker not only lets you add photo transitions, but also allows you to drag and drop text and images. That way, you can craft the perfect message that’s sure to inspire your audience. In this article, I’ll show you how to achieve this with a free online editor called Kapwing. Follow the steps and let’s get started.
- Upload your photos
- Add transitions and customize
- Make an intro and outro
- Download the slideshow
1. Upload your pictures
First, open the Kapwing Studio and ‘Click to upload’ the first photo. Next, click ‘Scenes’ and upload the other photos for your slideshow.
Now you can edit duration on each scene to make your photo appear for more or less time. If you’re sharing it to social media, consider a shorter time. If it’s in-person, try a longer time. Also, you can change the aspect ratio and background color on the left side.
2. Add transitions and customize
When you’re ready to add transitions, navigate back to the studio and click the photo you want to add to. Next, click the animate tab on the right side menu. These animation effects create the transition when a photo changes to the next. The fade and reveal animations work best for slideshows.
Check out your transitions by clicking the play button on the bottom left.
Customize your photos with drag and drop text, elements and images. In this example, I created a lower third title by adding a white rectangle element with a text overlay. This is great if you want to give your audience context for each photo. You can add this to your slides or create a totally unique design.
3. Make an intro and outro
An intro and outro will help package your photos as a story so the audience knows what to expect and resonates with the message. In the ‘Scenes’ tab, click ‘add a blank scene’ twice to create the slides for the intro and outro. Move one to the top and keep one at the bottom. You can edit the duration if needed.
To customize the slides, go back to the studio and select the first scene. You can click the canvas to change the background color. Now, add a text box, give your slides a title and add any additional information you think is necessary. If you want to add more images or elements, you can do that too.
Also, you can add music to your slideshow by clicking the ‘Audio’ tab and uploading your song of choice. In the menu, you’re free to trim the audio, adjust the volume and loop the audio to match the feel you’re after.
4. Download the slideshow
When the slideshow is finished, click ‘Settings’ in the top right to change the quality to high, then click ‘Export Video’. Once it’s done processing, download your slides and you’re ready to share!
Slideshows are great to post on social media or you can show it off directly from your device. Either way, it’s sure to capture your audience and inspire action.
