Instagram brings in over a billion (yes, with a B!) users every month, all there for visual content alone. You probably find some of your favorite pictures, videos, and creators on Instagram, but you can only use Instagram content in Instagram itself.

To save photos and videos for yourself, or to make compilations or edits, you'll have to download them from the Instagram app to your camera roll, but you can't do this using Instagram alone. Here's what you'll need to do:

  1. Copy the Video's Link
  2. Upload the Video to the Kapwing Studio
  3. Process & Download

You can find videos on Instagram anywhere: your timeline, your Explore page, IGTV. Once you've found the video you want to save, it's simple to copy its link. Just tap the three-dot button to the upper right of the video or picture and choose "Copy Link."

Step 2: Upload the Video to the Kapwing Studio

With your Instagram link copied, head over to Kapwing.com and click "Start editing." Or, if you're already signed in, click "New Project," then "Start with Studio." This will take you to the Kapwing Studio, where you can use all of Kapwing's video editing tools in one place. Now, just right-click on the URL field and choose "Paste." The Instagram video will be uploaded to the Studio in just a few seconds.

While you’re in the Studio, you can make any edit your video needs:

• Add overlays & audio
• Add shapes
Add text & text animations or subtitles
Crop, trim, & filter
Convert it to a GIF

Step 3: Process & Download

Once your Instagram photo or video has been uploaded to the Kapwing Studio, just click the red "Publish" button in the top right corner. Kapwing will work quickly your video will be ready to download in a matter of seconds.

When your video is finished processing, click “Download” from the right side of the screen. Here, you can also log in using your Facebook or Google account to remove the Kapwing watermark for free, if you haven't done so already.

If you're using an iOS device to download a video, you might need to use the Kapwing mobile app from the App Store. The app doesn’t require any login – it’s only meant to help you download your content!
