Apple makes it really difficult for web developers to enable video downloads from mobile Safari. Kapwing is a small online video creation startup, eager to make working with video easier for modern creators. So we created a work around for iPhone users to download Kapwing videos.

Step 1: Download the Kapwing for iOS app

Behold, the Kapwing iOS app, made specially for the purpose of circumventing Apple. (Read more about Apple weakening the web in this blog post by Julia, one of the founders of Kapwing.)

(Step 1.5: Create your video)

If you are ready to download your video, chances are you have already created it. (And if this is the case, skip this step!) But on the off chance you just happened upon this article, here is a little bit about Kapwing:

Kapwing’s online video editor allows creators to edit videos quickly and easily without needing to download or learn expensive software. Kapwing supports most image, GIF, and video files including mp4, mov, gif, jpg, png, avi, and more!

The website includes a tool to add subtitles to videos, generate memes, create montages and collages from your videos, add text or watermarks, and generally trim and edit visual and audio content. You can check out our other resources to learn more about the tools and how you can use them.

Step 2: Download your video

You are happy with your video, and have clicked “CREATE!” Now, copy and paste the link from the download page (do not click “Download video”) to the Kapwing iOS app (available here) and then click “Save to device” to download your Kapwing video.

Congratulations you’ve done it!

It’s that easy. If at any time you need support, you can open the chat feature in the bottom right corner of the screen or email us.
