Blurring out video is a technique used for privacy concerns but can also be used for transitions and title screens. Using blurred video as a background makes it easier to read any text on screen. It adds interest and sophistication to otherwise boring b-roll.
The Kapwing editor’s Adjust Video tool features a Blur slider that is easy and intuitive to use. It also offers a high level of control over how much you can blur your video.
Upload a video directly from your computer to Kapwing. You can even paste a link to a video from YouTube, TikTok, or another video source.
Select the Adjust button in the Edit tab and use the Blur slider to add blur to the video. Duplicate and crop layers to add blur to only one part of the video.
Finalize any other edits, then hit Export and your color corrected video is ready to download and share. You can even share it right from Kapwing!
With Kapwing’s blur video tool, you have control over blurriness levels with our Adjust tool. To get started, upload your video file to Kapwing.
Select the video clip you want to blur, then click on the Adjust tool under the Edit tab on the right. Use the Blur slider to adjust the video clip until it’s where you want it — whether that’s soft focus or entirely blurred out. Made a mistake? Just hit the Reset button to the left of the slider to set it back to import settings.
If you’re blurring the video to protect someone’s identity or conceal sensitive information, there’s an extra step involved. Duplicate the video layer you want to blur. Add blur to the top layer using the Adjust tool. Then crop the blurred layer so you’re only blurring out the relevant part of the frame and the rest is still visible.
When you’re satisfied with your blurred video, you can Export the video and share. Kapwing's online video blur editor works for free with no watermark! Use it to blur video with ease. Our mission is to provide fast, accessible tools to empower creators and their stories. We believe everyone is a creator, so this tool was made for everyone.
