FLV files are used to transmit movies over the internet for streaming sites like Hulu, Netflix, Amazon Prime, and nearly all embedded videos. But you can't play them in Quicktime or other everyday players. Converting FLV files to MP4s makes them viewable in most software.
In this article, I'm going to show you how to convert an .FLV video with our .MP4 converter tool.
Here's how it works:
- Open the converter
- Upload your file
- Download your mp4 video
Step 1: Open the converter tool
Click here to open the FLV to MP4 converter tool.

Step 2: Upload and Convert your video
Click the Upload button to search for your files or drag and drop them in the pop-up window. Once the footage is loaded, you'll have the option to download it in different formats. Click MP4 and then click Create in the bottom right.

This tool can convert a lot more than FLVs. Check out what else it can do:
- AVI: An audio with video format, common on some camera types
- WMV: Windows Media Video, an old-school video format from Microsoft
- 3GP: A multimedia format found on feature phones and older phones
- MOV and QT: Quicktime files or files filmed on a Mac, iPhone, or iPad
This converter is designed specifically for changing file formats. Suppose you want to do more advanced editing, like trimming a video, multi-clip editing, or adding text. In that case, you'll need to visit Kapwing's Studio Editor. In the studio, you can upload and edit your FLVs and export them into MP4s.
Step 3: Download your Video
When your piece finishes, click download. You can also get a copy link to share this page.

That's it! Simple, right?
