How to Delete Media Assets on Kapwing

Kapwing has cloud storage limits on user assets depending on one's tier. Free workspaces have, 2 GB Pro workspace have 100 GB, Business workspaces have 500 GB, and Enterprise starts at 5 TB. If you want to ensure you can seamlessly upload assets to work on projects, you will want to make sure you are also deleting assets you do not need regularly.

To clean up your storage head to your workspace's Media Library (accessible from the editor or your Workspace settings on the left) to see all your assets in one place.

  1. You can sort by file size: In the top right corner of the Media Library, you can sort assets by file size. This is a great way to quickly identify your largest files and tackle them first for the biggest impact.
  2. You can select multiple files at once: Check the box in the top left corner of any asset, or click and drag to select a group of files in bulk, so you can delete several at once rather than one by one.
  3. You can select all files: Check the box in the top left corner of any asset then use your keyboard Command+A to select all the loaded assets in your Library (can be about 20 - 100 assets at a time)

If you delete assets in your Media Library within studio, this does also delete the asset from your media library.

If you are in a PAID workspace, deleting projects does not delete the assets within the project.

A few important things to keep in mind before you start deleting:

  1. Deleting an asset removes it from every project it appears in. This action cannot be undone.
  2. If you want to keep a copy of any project with that asset, make sure to export and download the project before deleting the asset.
  3. All team members share the same workspace storage, so it's worth coordinating before removing files that others may be using if you are in a workspace with other members.
