Although YouTube is known as a video platform, it has also become a treasure trove of sounds and songs. If you find a YouTube video with an audio track that you really like, there are multiple reasons why you might consider saving only the audio as an MP3 file. Saving the audio allows you to add the sound to videos for TikTok, Instagram, or other social media apps. It also allows you to listen to songs even when you don't have internet connection. YouTube has become a prime place for sharing no copyright music too, and the only way to download and use the music is by converting the audio into a savable file.
In this article, I'll show you how to save the audio from a YouTube video in only a few clicks – all you need is the video's URL. Unlike other sketchy YouTube to MP3 converters out there, this converter is trustworthy; you don't need to sign in or download any apps. This process works in the browser of any computer, tablet, or phone, including iOS and Android devices.
There are 3 easy steps to create an MP3 file from a YouTube video:
- Copy the YouTube video link
- Paste the link into the Kapwing Converter
- Create & Download
1. Copy the YouTube video link
First, head to YouTube and search for the video you want to save audio from. Once you've found it, copy the video's URL found at the top of the page.
2. Paste the link into the Kapwing Converter
Next, head to the Kapwing YouTube to MP3 Converter, where you'll be able to create your audio file in a few clicks. Paste the YouTube video link that you copied in the previous step and it'll immediately start loading the video into the converter.
Once the video has loaded in the tool, choose "MP3" as the output file. This is the most important step as it ensures only the sound is saved from your chosen video.
At this point, you have the option to edit your sound by trimming the audio down. Click the "Trim Video" button in the corner, then drag the ends of the purple bar to indicate where you want the audio to start and end. You can also cut out unwanted parts of the audio by clicking "Add cut" and specifying what part you don't want to be included in the final audio file. The solid gray sections in the bar at the top indicate what parts of the audio will be saved.
3. Create & Download
Once you're happy with your edits, click "Create" and your audio file will start processing. After a few moments, your MP3 file should be ready for download! Click "Download" to save the audio to your device (if you're on an iOS device, it will be saved to the Files app).
