Kapwing Shortcuts Guide
Here is a comprehensive list of keyboard shortcuts you can use in Kapwing to streamline your workflow. These shortcuts are grouped based on the context in which they can be used. There will be shortcuts that can do different things depending on what is selected in your project.
General Shortcuts (Always Available Except in Text Box)
- Space: Toggle play/pause
- s: Split selected layers
- h: Hide selected layers
- Backspace: Delete any selected layers/gaps/subtitles/wavforms
- Delete: Delete any selected layers/gaps/subtitles/waveforms
Mac
- Command + A: Select all layers in the scene
- Command + Z: Undo
- Command + Shift + Z: Redo
- Command + PLUS(+)/MINUS(-): zoom in/out of the canvas
Windows
- Control + A: Select all layers in the scene
- Control + Z: Undo
- Control + Shift + Z: Redo
- Control + Y: Redo
- Control + PLUS(+)/MINUS(-): zoom in/out of the canvas
When Any Group is Selected
- Arrow Keys (all directions): Move the group in any directions
- Shift + Arrow Keys (all directions): Move the group in any direction with shift
Mac
- Command + ]: Bring selected group forward
- Command + [: Send selected group backward
- Command + Option + ]: Bring selected group to the front
- Command + Option + [: Send selected group to back
- Command + G: Group selected group
- Command + Shift + G: Ungroup selected group
- Command + Delete: Delete selected layer and resulting gap
- Command + Backspace: Delete selected layer and resulting gap
- Command + Option + √: Paste layer modifications
(Note: '√' character used by Mac users for cmd + option + v)
Windows
- Control + ]: Bring selected group forward
- Control + [: Send selected group backward
- Control + Option + ]: Bring selected group to front
- Control + Option + [: Send selected group to back
- Control + Delete: Delete selected layer and resulting gap
- Control + Backspace: Delete selected layer and resulting gap
- Control + Option + V: Paste layer modifications
When Any Row is Selected
- Arrow Keys (all directions): Move the seeker in any direction by a small increment
