Even though the YouTube app provides an easy way to watch videos and listen to music on your phone, videos still stop playing once you have turned your phone screen off. For many of us, we want to find a song, turn off our screen, and continue listening to the song.
Despite the app itself not allowing for this to happen, there is still a way for you to be able to listen to any video with your screen off thanks to Kapwing.
- Paste YouTube Link Into Kapwing
- Play the Video in the Studio On Your Phone
Step One: Paste YouTube Link Into Kapwing
Head over to the Kapwing Studio and you will see the three options for uploading a video into the editing suite: Get Started, Upload a File, and Paste a URL.
You are going to be using the Paste a URL option here, so go to the YouTube video that you are wanting to listen to and copy the URL of the page to your clipboard. Take this and paste it into the Paste a URL text bar and the video will automatically upload into the Kapwing Studio.
Step Two: Play the Video in the Studio On Your Phone
Now that the video you want to listen to is in the Kapwing Studio, you can start playing the video.
Look at the bottom of your screen, just above your timeline for the Play button. Tapping on this will, obviously, cause the video to start playing. You can now turn your screen off, though you will notice that this will stop the video.
All you have to do is turn your phone back on to your lock screen and you will see a big Play button, just as you would for a song being played through Apple Music or Spotify. Just tap on this and the video will start playing again.
Kapwing makes it very easy to play a video with your screen off, and you will even have it to access at anytime without having to search through the countless pages of YouTube itself.
