New AI Assistant for Image and Video Generation

Kapwing expanded its AI offering with a new chat-based AI Assistant. Users can start with a prompt to generate an image, video, or musical track.

The AI Assistant up-levels Kapwing's generative AI functionality:

  • Upload a reference image: Kapwing's AI Assistant also supports adding a reference image as part of the prompt to image workflow. This image can be animated or used as the start frame for a video.
  • Generate music: Make a song or jingle from a prompt
  • Chat back and forth to get what you want: The AI Assistant remembers the context of the chat and enables users to iterate inline. For example, you might ask it to resize the image, add text, or remove a spot. Chat to edit an image or come up with a design.
  • Resize an image with magic fill: Use AI inpainting to fill in the rest of an image, changing its aspect ratio.

The AI Assistant is powered by AI models like Seedream, MiniMax, Gemini, and Sora. Access the AI Assistant from the lightbulb icon, the "Generate" button in the Workspace, or the blank input box within the studio.

Kapwing now has an AI Credits system to support the AI Assistant. This empowers free users to try out the AI Assistant and buy more credits if they find it to be a useful creative assistant. Review how many credits you've used in Workspace Settings.

Faster Remove Background

Kapwing's Erase Background got a performance improvement, making it faster and less resource intensive. Try it out when you upload an image and click the "erase" button.

Bug Fixes and More

  • To simplify account creation and support our Enterprise teams, Kapwing added Sign in with Microsoft.
  • Dubbing reliability improvements, like removing an invalid voice option
  • Kapwing for Enterprise customers can opt in to overage billing from Workspace Settings
  • Finished a major technical migration to reduce errors sent to the Kapwing backend. This should make the Studio more reliable in the future.
