Dubbing Quality Improvements

This month, we substantially improved Kapwing's AI Dubbing suite with faster, higher-quality dubbing outputs.

  • Improved performance of dubbed videos by merging together cut video assets on the frontend. Now, playback is smoother, and output video layers are easier to edit if timing issues arise.
  • Added speaker labels within the Translate tab to enable people to correct incorrect speaker diaterization.
  • Improved translation logic for non-English languages
  • Experimented with new transcription providers and using AI models to get better translations for dubs.

We also added support for users to import a translation from an SRT and use that as the basis for a dubbed project. This means that enterprise customers can use a third-party translations management system (TMS) or an LLM to check the translations and bring the reviewed version back into Kapwing for synthetic speech and layer timing.

New template collections

This month, we added dozens of new template collections for users to browse and use as inspiration for their projects.

Auto-Detect Languages

Kapwing just got smarter! Now, Kapwing supports AI language auto-detection in transcription and translation workflows.

When you dub or translate captions within Kapwing, your original language will be selected by default. This saves the user time as they don't need to select the video or audio track's original language before processing a translation, precious clicks for our power users. Also, it means that viewers who are not sure what the original language is can more easily use Kapwing as an editing tool. Language auto-detection enhances asynchronous editing ease.

Export at WebP and MOV File

Kapwing's engineering team made major improvements to make project export faster and more reliable. Kapwing also supports selecting the output file type and now supports .WEBP and .MOV export. This gives marketing and creative teams more control over the file type, resolution, and specs of their asset.
